PathwayIQ ("the app") is a free mobile application developed by Knight Development under the TechLearn Resources brand. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use PathwayIQ on Android or any other platform. By using PathwayIQ, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.
1 Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
PathwayIQ collects the following information that you voluntarily enter within the app:
- Your name — entered optionally when you earn a certificate of completion. Used only to personalize your certificate.
- Experience level, target career track, and learning goal — selected during onboarding to personalize your roadmap.
1.2 Information Stored Locally
All user-provided data and progress data are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This includes:
- Your selected career track and onboarding preferences
- Step completion progress
- Your certificate name
This data does not leave your device unless you use PathwayIQ Pro features that require cloud sync (see Section 3).
1.3 Analytics Data (Firebase)
PathwayIQ uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data, including:
- App opens and session duration
- Screens viewed and features used
- Device type, operating system version, and country
This data is aggregated and anonymous. It does not identify you personally and is used solely to improve the app experience.
1.4 Advertising Data (Google AdMob)
The free version of PathwayIQ displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:
- Advertising identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID)
- IP address and approximate location
- Interaction data with ads
Ad data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. PathwayIQ Pro subscribers are not shown ads.
1.5 Subscription Data (RevenueCat)
If you subscribe to PathwayIQ Pro, your subscription is managed by RevenueCat. RevenueCat may collect:
- Purchase history and subscription status
- Device identifiers for license validation
RevenueCat's privacy practices are governed by its Privacy Policy.
1.6 Account Data (Firebase Auth)
PathwayIQ Pro accounts use Google Firebase Authentication. If you create an account, Firebase stores:
- Email address or Google account identifier
- Authentication tokens
Firebase Auth data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
2 How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected for the following purposes:
- To personalize your learning roadmap and in-app experience
- To display your name on certificates of completion
- To track and display your step progress within the app
- To understand how users interact with the app and improve its features
- To serve contextually relevant advertisements (free tier only)
- To validate and manage Pro subscriptions
We do not use your information for any purpose not listed above.
3 Data Storage and Cloud Sync
Free tier users: All data is stored exclusively on your device. Uninstalling the app will permanently delete your local progress and settings.
Pro tier users: If you enable cloud sync, your progress data is stored in Google Firestore and associated with your account. This allows your progress to sync across multiple devices. You may delete your cloud data by deleting your account (see Section 6).
4 Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We share data only with the following service providers, strictly for the purposes described in this policy:
All third-party providers are contractually required to protect your data and may not use it for their own marketing purposes.
5 Children's Privacy
PathwayIQ is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below, and we will delete it promptly.
6 Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Access and Correction
You can view and update your profile information (name, experience level, career track, and goal) directly within the app at any time via the Profile screen.
6.2 Deletion
To delete your local data: Go to Profile > Settings > Reset app. This clears all locally stored progress and preferences.
To delete your cloud data (Pro users): Contact us at the address below to request account and data deletion. We will process your request within 30 days.
6.3 Opt Out of Analytics
You can opt out of Firebase Analytics data collection through your device settings. On Android, go to Settings > Google > Ads and enable "Opt out of Ads Personalization."
6.4 Advertising Preferences
You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads through your device's advertising settings.
7 Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- Local data is stored using platform-standard secure storage (AsyncStorage)
- Cloud data is protected by Firebase security rules and Google's infrastructure
- Subscription data is handled by RevenueCat's PCI-compliant systems
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the protection of your data seriously.
8 Third-Party Links
PathwayIQ links to external learning resources on platforms including YouTube, Khan Academy, freeCodeCamp, IBM SkillsBuild, LearnFree, MIT OpenCourseWare, AWS Skill Builder, Microsoft Learn, and others. These links open in your device browser or the respective platform's app.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external platforms. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies before engaging with their content.
9 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this document. For significant changes, we will provide notice within the app. Continued use of PathwayIQ after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
